'A belief is a thought that is true for you'

I work with my clients to help them build self - confidence, self-belief and resilience. I do this by helping them challenge and change the limiting beliefs that are holding them back and causing them to feel anxious and stressed. So, I thought I would put my money where my mouth is and challenge some more of my own! I always 'believed' I wouldn't be capable of running for any great distance and wouldn't enjoy it. This is a belief I had had from childhood as I was never very confident at sports and felt I was lacking in this department.

I wanted to tackle and change this belief. I started by looking for the actual evidence for it......and was suprised to find there wasn't any! People without all their limbs run marathons so I really didn't have an excuse. Physically I am pretty fit so the only thing stopping me was me and an old and irrelevant belief.

I started small, just running a mile or so at a time every other day. By the end of two months I was able to run 5 miles without stopping! This has been a real revelation for me and something I am highly proud of. I will now continue pushing bit by bit and setting goals to prove to myself it's possible.

What are your limiting beliefs? Why don't you take one of them and challenge it?
